yacht – shangri-la

June 13, 2011

Portland’s electro-dance duo YACHT is set to release Shangri-La later this month on James Murphy’s DFA Label. Throughout Shangri-La, YACHT, short-hand for Young Americans Challenging High Technology, push their weird, pysch-dance mantra to greater heights with a production by YACHT’s Jona Bechtolt. Excluding the movie trailer sounding introduction to each song, Shangri-La emits a more natural feel not seen in 2009’s See Mystery Lights, where their primary use of beat machines seemed artificial. Unfortunately, Shangri-La does not drop until June 21. Fortunately, NPR is streaming the album in its entirety. Click the link below and download ‘Utopia’ and ‘Holy Roller’ below.
