blouse – nights & days

August 8, 2011

With this year’s influx of beachside pop-styled bands, it’s easy to brush off the lullaby drone as just another relevance. Hopefully Portland’s Blouse will be the deep breath you seek. Take ‘Nights & Days’, the dreamy b-side to their debut 7 inch out now on Sub Pop: drowned drone is alive and well, as are the lazy drums, but there’s a certain sophistication that counters any doubts. Blouse’s Shadow 7 inch draws comparison of Memoryhouse and early Twin Sister, each is fronted by ladies and each knows how to calm nerves.

Stumble over to Bandcamp to stream the more upbeat ‘Shadow’ and earlier gems.
