god boat – ‘caves were hot & something slowed the water’

April 9, 2012

It goes without saying that Totally Nebular was something special both in mind and in spirit. Powerstruck and powerless all in one manic moment; whether live or recorded, it’s downright difficult not to feel spell cast. Towards the end of their run, all three members began to individually emerge. Eddie Roqueta as Forest Clay. Gabriel Berrios as Tree Hopping / now the equally as excellent Bayatas. Weston Mansfield as God Boat.

Though Beautiful Caps: Sounds From The Country Waters was written and released over a year ago, it still amazes me that three individuals can take the sound, soul, songwriting, and overall big beat energy of one entity and create three projects that orbit around their place of insemination as much as they voyage out into unknown, shallow waters. Weston’s illustration under God Boat are more secluded in certain junctions like ‘How Can You Not’ and all-around groovy within the likes of ‘Caves Were Hot & Something Slowed the Water’ – a song that takes place in his hometown of West Pines, concerning a friend that isn’t anymore, and a black jeep.

God Boat’s Beautiful Caps: Sounds From The Country Waters is hot-n-ready on Bandcamp and is still free to all.

I hope Eddie and Weston are still making tunes. Alive and well, Weston is headlining the Hear Hums album release show April 21st and Eddie is holding a video shoot for an upcoming release earlier in the afternoon!
